What will CampOut support these kids to achieve?
CampOut will help these kids become responsible, respectful adults: self sufficient and able to care for themselves and their families; with healthy family and social relationships; and willing and able to contribute back to their communities.
To get there, CampOut will focus on three critical youth development outcomes:
• learning to be productive: to learn leadership and basic life skills, and to stay in and do well at school
• learning to connect: with their peers in positive and constructive ways; with adult role models and healthy, lasting and stable relationships, and with a community and ideals beyond themselves
• learning to navigate through the challenges and settings they will face along with all young people on their path to adulthood, and those they will share only with other LGBT youth
Throughout CampOut will emphasize self-respect that enables teens to establish a healthy sense of boundaries and building character development, leadership, and teamwork skills.
